Looking back, it is hard for me to believe this ministry is a year old now. It surely seems as though I have been with you in this field less time than this. For the many people who have helped make it a success, I thank you deeply. I could not do this if it was not for you and God.
Many different teachings exist on many different Bible subjects in the world. The aim of this series is to look at various doctrines, and decide whether they be from God or man. Once again, as always, I am a man and fallible. Check scripture with me for yourself to see if these things are so. This is the eleventh sermon in this series.
In my first archived sermon, we looked at the origin of the christmas tree; how it related not to Christ, but Saturn. This year, we will look at some other “traditions” of christmas, and see from whence they came.
NOW HEAR YE THE WORD OF THE LORD as recorded in Collossians 1:16-18:
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence.”
There are to be no other gods before God! It is simple. Children understand this. Why, then, do religious men, professing their belief as Christianity, have such a difficult time with this?
The first “tradition” we shall address is the date; December 25th.
In 380 A.D., the catholic “saint” Chrysostom wrote “Monitum in Hom. de Natal. Christi.” He notes, “It is not yet ten years since this day (December 25th as the birthday of the Lord, MRH) was made known to us.” He continued, “Among those inhabiting the west, it was known before from ancient and primative times, and to the dwellers from Thrace to Gadeira (Cadiz) it was previously familiar and well known.”
Near the end of the fourth century, this date was incorporated into traditions. It was not a tradition of the apostles. It was presented to Christianity some 300 years too late to be true. Yet, while it was new to them, they were aware it was a pagan day; the Saturnalia. It had been so for thousands of years! Rome was well aware what sin they were committing. They did not care. They decided to intentionally (not accidentally) mislead people with regards to this. They needed converts, and could not make them repent (give up their unholy feast days). The attitude of this apostate body was something like, “We cannot convert them, therefore, we will convert ourselves part way to them.”
The second “tradition” we shall examine is that the date selected pertains to the birth of deity.
In 1916, Alexander Hislop, the historian and denominationalist, wrote “The Two Babylons.” His religious views are colored by his denominational affilliation. The first clue to this is his taking the name of God for himself (Psalm 111:9). However, his history has been proven accurate. Ignoring the false religion, this work has proven to be a valuable resource.
On page 93 of the second American edition, we find, “The time of year, and the ceremonies with which it is still celebrated, prove its origin.” The Egyptian goddess, Isis, is supposed to have had a son at this time. Since Isis is purported to be the “Queen of Heaven,” her son is necessarily considered deity. He is the son of his mother, rather than the son of God. Do any now wonder why Mary was selected for worship?
The third “tradition” common to the celebration of this season is the yule log.
Yule is a word of Chaldee (Babylonian) origin. It is the word for “infant.” Why, then, is the infant (supposedly Christ) represented by a log? This is very odd indeed. That is, until you learn the source. The Anglo-Saxons, in what is now England, called December 25th ”Yule-day” long before they came in contact with the brand of Christianity practiced by Rome.
The Yule log was placed in the fire on christmas eve. The next day, the tree is supposed to appear. Why is this significant? Nimrod was considered “the god of mysteries.” He was killed, and supposedly reborn. The log turning into a tree after “passing through the fire” is representative of Nimrod’s rebirth or resurrection! This practice was falsely applied to Messiah!
The fourth tradition we will examine is the goose.
The Egyptian goddess, Isis, was said to be able to be appeased throught the sacrifice of a goose. The geese kept in the temple of Juno (Jupiter) in the Roman capitol, are said to have saved the city when they cackled to warn of invaders.
Do not allow yourself to call men gods. This is what the apostate heathens do.
Prophecies of the coming Messiah were given as early as the garden of Eden. All of creation was aware that deity would be born of woman. People began looking for Him from this time. People did then just what they do now. They looked at part of God’s word, usually based on tradition, to the exclusion of the rest. They received their delusion, and believed a lie. Now, the lie has grown. More people buy into it.
All of the “mystic” traditions surrounding this pagan day have their roots in the same paganism. They are a lie. This lie has been accepted by most of the world, even those in the world who claim Christianity.
Does your group buy into this lie? If you practice any of these traditions, you do. This was an invention of man. It is not a plant planted by the Father. It will be rooted up, along with its practitioners, and burned at judgment.
Will you not come out of the world which practices this into Christianity?
God said to hear Jesus. Hear Him will you? Don’t shut His words out at the behest of men like Calvin, Luther, Wesley, Zwingli, Smith, Smyth, Rutherford, Lucado, and Spurgeon. Don’t listen to the self-proclaimed “god-men.” All popes claim to be Christ (God) on earth when they claim to be vicar (which only meant substitute or replacement when they first used the word). God spoke to you already. He isn’t going to say more.
You are given time off, no one is doing buiseness at this time, because it doesn’t have the approval mark of the beast. I do hope you will take this time of evil, and use it for good. Visiting family, teaching others, and helping with needs are all worthy things. None of them are idol worship.
Will you listen?
